Identification of Plants in the South Burnett

Identification of Trees

A high-quality tree identification manual has been produced by the North East Downs Landcare Group. It contains details and photos of many of the most common trees in the northeast Darling Downs region, which adjoins the South Burnett and has similar trees to those found in the South Burnett.

A more comprehensive tree identification guide used to be available from the website of the oil and gas company Santos. The guide contains details and photos of most of the trees of Eastern Queensland. Each tree is cross-referenced to its natural habitat and to each of Santos' oil and gas fields where it may be found. This guide also contains tips about how to identify a plant as well as information about threatened habitats and about rare and threatened plants.

Unfortunately this excellent guide has ceased to be available in Santos' website. If anybody knows where it might still be available, kingaroar.com would welcome the information. The broken link remains here just in case Santos restores it.

Identification of Weeds

A comprehensive photo guide to weeds is maintained by Queensland's Department of Agriculture and Fisheries.
